Pray For Our Nation

Pray For Our Nation

I received this from a friend, today, and I thought it was well worth sharing.

Read the text, and listen to Andrea Bocelli sing "The Lord's Prayer."

Beautiful.

Today, when you pray, please remember to pray for Haiti, and for the safety of everyone there, including our troops, and all the volunteers.

Lord, please keep them in your perfect care, and please make a way for all the needed supplies to reach the people.

Amen.

Well, Hermit..I'm afraid that your prayer will be only partially answered.

I pray for the poor, helpless, suffering masses of people.

Maybe, having suffered a few broken bones, I know how painful that can be..how much worse when the bones can't be set? I hate to see suffering in any form, and especially in innocentlittle children.

Ironically, I read that the mayor from my home town, is asking that Ft. McClellan be used to house them, and very few of the townspeople, and the other officials are in agreement...remembering how it was when they housed Katrina victims who didn't really want to be there..they wanted to be in hotels.

The objectors brought out some good points...how many interpreters could be found, (and many would be needed) who would be responsible for feeding them, and who would pay for feeding them--not to mention all of the legalities involved, such as visas, etc.

Also, the police are not even allowed to write a ticket there, now, and would involve a lot of changes, not easy to be made...and many people have bought land and housing there since the base closed, and they would not be very happy about any of it.

They told him that he should be thinking of all of the problems involved, and not about the Federal aid that the city might receive.

It is a terrible tragedy, any way you look at it.

Jan, a very humble man once said,
"Suffer the little children to come unto me." I seem to remember his name was JESUS !!
I can understand how many folks are tired of the USA trying to support the whole world, But God help us if we forget how to respond to the truly needy in their time of need. And the children are, as usual, innocent victims of circumstance.

Don..not only that, but Jesus, Himself, never turned anyone away, sant or sinner.

We may not agree with certain things, such as someon who practices Voodoo, still we must love the person's soul.

I like this scripture: What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.
James 2:14-17

We may not be brothers and sisters with them as Christians, but in God's creation, we are.

Btw..I just saw a program on television last night where they were doing a report on the Haitians who are turning away from Voodoo, as a result of the earthquake.

Thanks for your comments. :)
