Ahh..Cicero

The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome becomes bankrupt.

People must again learn to work, instead of living off public assistance.

Cicero, 55BC

Ahh..Cicero--if only we had nothing more than that to be concerned about in this day and time. What you speak of is nothing compared to what we are facing in this country.

Washington Post: 20,000 More U.S. Troops To Be Deployed For “Domestic Security”

I'm afraid it's going to take a lot more than human wisdom to solve this one, Cicero.

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of stress. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

Very sad, but very true.

Mrs. K..weren't the videos chilling?

I pray that something like that never takes place here, for real, but I am more, and more, inclined to think so.

Remember what happened to Cicero! Sometimes telling the truth can end unhappily.

Hermit..did you watch the videos, too?

I hope that everyone clicks on the link to read the article and to view the videos.

It's a long scroll down to where they are, and I almost missed them when I first went there.

Hello Jan,
How right you are Jan!!!!
I love the last paragraph!
I am seeing this now. What has happened to us humans within the past few decades? There is so much greed, hatred, all the slanderers, deceitfulness ect.... out there now, it's getting so hard not to notice it! This is a good indication that our world is going to crap. It's so important for us to look to that which is still good and pure and avoid the negativity that has taken over this planet. It's also so important in this day and age to beware of who and what we choose to believe. There's just too many lies coming out of people's mouths. When lies are believed, the only person who benefits from it, is the liar who started the lie.
Thank you for this post Jan!!!!!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Lydia

Keep up the posting, Jan. You have the values of decency and right that this country needs.

yeah, but keep in mind that after the revolution the republic fell only to be replaced by a stronger than ever Rome that lasted as the power in Europe for over four centuries and then the Holy Roman Empire was crowning the Kings of France and the Germatic states as well as England for another 10 centuries.

This could well happen to the USA...what the hell..we have not been a democratic republic of equals since the public agreed to let Lincoln suspend habius corpus during the civil war and arrest and lock up non combatants in Maryland and New Jersey. The civil war may have preserved the union but it also may have been the beginning of the end of the union

Lydia..you're welcome!

Things have gotten pretty bad in this country, but you're right about not letting it the bad guys win..and they won't..not really.

Your comments are always appreciated..thanks!

Jan, i fear the vaneer of civilization is very thin right now...when the shoppers who ran down the young man at Walmart refused to stop shopping and go home we know that ordinary people have become immune to another's tragedy.
These video's are so scary, and so is the strategy of bringing in foreign troops to deal with American civilians.
You and Lydia are right! We need to treasure every lovely moment as it exists today....

She..it is true that much has happened to our country, which is shameful. The violence has escalated the past few years, and exacerbated, it seems, recently, culminating in the horrible incident at the WalMart store.

Yes, the videos were frightening..to think that this country has deteriorated to the point where we may have to have military intervention, and supervision, is something that is hard to think about.

There are politicians who would have no qualms in having that happen, either..calling in military forces, in this country, and from others, no doubt--think UN.

It is sad.
