Think About It

* They travel miles in the heat.

* They risk their lives crossing a border.

* They don't get paid enough wages.

* They do jobs that others won't do, or are afraid to do.

* They live in crowded conditions among a people who speak a different language.

* They rarely see their families, and they face adversity all day every day.

I'm not talking about illegal Mexicans; I'm talking about our troops!

Doesn't it seem strange that many Democrats and Republicans are willing to lavish all kinds of social benefits on illegals, but don't support our troops?

That's just sad.

A resounding Yes to that Jan. We need a strong military presence in this dog eat dog world. Our military forces are the "big stick" we must have to be able to speak softly. I'm amazed that our bravest and most sacrificing citizens are vilfied by some of their fellow Americans, and that some states offer better educational benifits to illegals than to American Vets.

She..you're right, and I don't think things are going to improve any, either, which is very disheartening.

You know what upsets me really badly with this? When military families have to get food stamps because the pay is so bad they can't feed their kids well enough. That happened a lot when I lived near Barksdale AFB during the first Gulf War.

Something about working soldiers having to go on welfare makes me want to scream at someone.

k..I know the feeling. That is one of my husband's pet peeves, too. He is retired military and remembers some pretty hard times, himself.

I think it is a crying shame that these conditons exist, but they do.

My brother's employer has a program that pays the serving member the difference from the military pay to their civilian pay. That means that his family (and all others that worked there) made the same money as when he was state side.

Another great post Jan!!!

dnr..I think that's great! It's too bad that many found themselves without a job when they returned home--through no fault of their own, and not too much sympathy from their employer!
