The Big Split

According to this recent report, the human race will one day split into two separate species, an attractive, intelligent ruling elite and an underclass of dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures, according to a top scientist.
100,000 years into the future, sexual selection could mean that two distinct breeds of human will have developed.

The alarming prediction comes from evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry from the London School of Economics, who says that the human race will have reached its physical peak by the year 3000.

The report claims that after they reach their peak around the year 3000 humans will begin to regress

These humans will be between 6ft and 7ft tall and they will live up to 120 years.
"Physical features will be driven by indicators of health, youth and fertility that men and women have evolved to look for in potential mates," says the report, which suggests that advances in cosmetic surgery and other body modifying techniques will effectively homogenise our appearance.

Men will have symmetrical facial features, deeper voices and bigger penises, according to Curry in a report commissioned for men's satellite TV channel Bravo. Women will all have glossy hair, smooth hairless skin, large eyes and pert breasts, according to Curry.
Racial differences will be a thing of the past as interbreeding produces a single coffee-coloured skin tone.

The future for our descendants isn't all long life, perfect bodies and chiselled features, however.
While humans will reach their peak in 1000 years' time, 10,000 years later our reliance on technology will have begun to dramatically change our appearance.

Medicine will weaken our immune system and we will begin to appear more child-like.
Dr Curry said: "The report suggests that the future of man will be a story of the good, the bad and the ugly.

H G Wells' Science Fiction novel The Time Machine, the human race has evolved into two species, the highly intelligent and wealthy Eloi, and the frightening, animalistic Morlock.

"While science and technology have the potential to create an ideal habitat for humanity over the next millennium, there is the possibility of a monumental genetic hangover over the subsequent millennia due to an over-reliance on technology reducing our natural capacity to resist disease, or our evolved ability to get along with each other.
"After that, things could get ugly, with the possible emergence of genetic 'haves' and 'have-nots'."

Dr Curry's theory may strike a chord with readers who have read H G Wells' classic novel The Time Machine, in particular his descriptions of the Eloi and the Morlock races.
In the 1895 book, the human race has evolved into two distinct species, the highly intelligent and wealthy Eloi and the frightening, animalistic Morlock who are destined to work underground to keep the Eloi happy.

This is interesting to read about, but I would be willing to bet that not a single one of us now reading it, will have to worry about which species we'll have evolved into by then...unless you know something that I don't!

I find HG Wells and Jules Verne most interesting in that much of what they wrote so long ago has come true. Let's hope their streak of prophecy runs out before the year 3000! Me, I just want to survive the next 20 years or so and then we'll see...

rockync..well, I don't really worry about it, since I don't believe in evolution in the sense that this talks about it, and we won't be around then, anyway. If it does happen, well.... :)

With genetic research progresing as it is, by the year 3000 I predict mankind will be divided in far more than two groups. Species developed with combinations of human and animal dna for power, strength, endurance, and even artistic and fetish combinations.
Humans with wings, feline features, insect drone-like creatures with hive mentality, cyborg combinations of utility creatures, gene splicing booths where one can go to change the complexion of their skin on a whim or enhance or obscure their features with dna cocktails.

vin...hmmm, I could have sworn that I've already seen some of this to some degree, especially on late-nite tv. :)

If the course of events in the world don't take a drastic turn for the better in the next 50 years, I predict that in the year 3000, cockroaches will rule the world!

Boy, I could sure do a lot with this post, but it's one of those subjects where I dare not comment least I be assailed for "racism."

Like my momma always said "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

But you know what I'm thinking, Jan!

rockync..hey, you know I saw a documentary once, and they were saying that cockroaches could survive a nuclear blast, so who knows? LOL

hermit...I know exactly what you are thinking! :)

Oh, I believe in evolution alright..I have seen it in my life time..insects
that develop a resistance to pesticides..the current "we all gonna die" scare on MSM about an infection being picked up in hospitals that is immune to anti-biotics.

evolution is after all about survival of the fittest and mutation and I reckon both happen and if the mutation happens to be a survivor then a species evolves.

But all that said I figure that the human species has managed to damn near wipe itself out several times over the course history and the survivors begin to repopulate to only evolve to the point where the species damn near wipes itself out again...

And the survivors have social memories passed on orally for generations until finally they begin to be written by a shaman and damn if we don't have an organized religion to help the species wipe itself out again..and again..and again..

guyk..I don't believe in evolution, as in we evolved from some organism in the ocean, or from a primate.

Maybe, I believe in mutation, since no doubt, there is much evidence of that around, and there is another thing that I could mention, but I won't.

That's all I'm going to say about that.
