When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One's standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. ~Theodore Dalrymple

I just read that to a friend of mine staying with me for a while.
He just about fell off the couch laughing..
Yep, we'll hear all the tired old promises we know they'll never keep.
You're right. And at least fairy tales have some basis in reality if you go far enough back. But promises from politicians of any stripe are completely illusionary.
I think they teach that at politician school! LOL
sounds like you've got a long long time of hearing them coming up...!!!
Morris..and the part that is not so funny, is that they know they are nothing but empty promises, even as they spew them out!
Hermit.. sometimes the whole process seems like an illusion! :)
rockync..and they seem to learn it very well! :)
tanie..I'm afraid you are right about that, and before it's all over, we'll probably be hearing them in our sleep..fairy tales turned to nightmares!
The difference here is that the "once upon a time" fairy tales usually have morals to them.
frank family..I know, but unfortunately many morals have fallen by the wayside, but there are still those who will believe the fairy tales, though.
If we could only remember the fairy tales and see the world and eachother through the eyes of a child. My twin 4-year-old girls help me out with that a whole bunch.
Jason..what a blessing that is!
I'll bet they keep you on your toes, too! LOL
